The Practice of the Six Pāramitās (Perfections)

This retreat will be let by Master Jiru and MABA’s two senior lay teachers, along with three Monastics.

This retreat is a way for both beginners and more experienced people to learn about the Pāramitā practice. Pāramitā means perfection. There are, depending on the system, six Mahayana Pāramitās we want to perfect in ourselves: generosity, morality, patience, diligence, concentration, and wisdom. This practice is also central to those on the Bodhisattva Path. In this retreat we will be focusing on a number of these practices, leading up to their culmination in Prajñā Pāramitā, the Perfection of Wisdom.

This two day retreat will allow us to learn about the methods to cultivate these practices, and especially how to integrate these paramitas into our lives. During periods of meditation, we will practice how to calm and focus the mind. The Dharma talks will help us develop the meaning of the Pāramitās. Afternoon discussions will help us to understand the Buddhist teaching on the Six Pāramitās.

Handouts will be sent out before the retreat about the Pāramitās.
