March Children Half Day
March 19, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 11:45 am
Sunday March 19, 2017 10 – 11:50 am
Please bring your children to join us for our weekly Sunday service including a group meditation, chanting and Dharma talk, followed by a vegetarian potluck. Although children are always welcome, MABA hosts special Children’s Half Days each month for our young Buddhists to be honored.
This year we will focus all of our lessons on the first precept: to abstain from taking the life of any sentient creature. We will specifically be teaching the importance of respecting all living beings. We will first learn how to respect ourselves, then our family, our friends, and our community. We will be including all life, from the tiniest creature to the largest. Our first meeting will be teaching how we can respect ourselves, and will be taught through book reading, meditation, craft and spending time in nature. Our craft will be creating a mantra rock which can further aid in our practice in the upcoming months. This year We will also be checking with the Venerables to see if there is any working meditation that needs to be done to further show our respect towards our MABA community.
Please feel free to contact Xianwan Tracy if you have any questions, and, as always, RSVP’s to those attending is greatly appreciated. Enjoy the weekend!
It would have been helpful to have included the time of our program 😊
Our program meets from 10a.m.-11:50a.m. during the traditional meditation service. We either meet at the Children’s Pavillion outside, or in the Monk’s House depending on the weather. We understand parents may want to be on time for the mediation service but ask that no children be dropped off before 9:50a.m. in order for set up to be completed.
