Introduction to the Consciousness-Only School
Chéng wéishí lùn成唯識論
This retreat is a way for both beginners and more experienced people to learn about Yogacara practice. In Mahayana Buddhism, there are two major methodologies: Madhyamika and Yogacara. Chan (Zen) and Tibetan Buddhism are both a synthesis of these two methods. We will learn to deepen our understanding of how to practice mindfulness meditation is a very direct way.
This one day mini-retreat will allow us to learn about the Yogacara method and how to integrate this Consciousness-Only perspective in our lives. During periods of meditation we will practice letting go of our clinging and opening our minds to things as they are. An afternoon period of discussion will help us to understand the Buddhist teaching on Mind-Only. Periods of Noble Silence will be observed during lunch and during the meditations.
Handouts will be sent out before the retreat to help attendees with an orientation about Yogâcāra.
Pre-Registration is required. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to pre-register.
Camping is possible. No overnight indoor space available due to the construction on the new dormitory.
